PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally cook rice optimally by reading the origin and brand of the rice shown on an IC tag attached to a rice bag, in relation to a current trend of using a tag showing bar codes, in a rice cooker capable of reading information on the rice from the IC tag attached to the rice bag. SOLUTION: A pan 2 containing a heating object is heated by a pan heating means 3, and the pan heating means 3 is controlled by a control means 4 to cook rice. The control means 4 controls the pan heating means 3 depending on the information obtained by a reading means 6 reading the origin, brand and the like of the rice from the IC tag.
