PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder metal engine component manufactured from an improved powder metal blend having a powder metal composition. SOLUTION: The powder metal engine component has a chemical composition on a weight percent basis, comprising: about 1.5% to about 3.0% C; about 4.0% to about 10.0% Cu; up to about 0.5% Mg; up to about 1.2% Mn; up to about 0.8% P; up to about 0.6% S; up to about 0.8% Sn; and the balance substantially being Fe.
