PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of surely preventing the initial set positions of side end restricting members from being displaced during the transportation and an image forming device. SOLUTION: The pair of side end restricting members are moved together by an interlocking part having a rack and a pinion gear 4 meshed with the rack installed at each of the pair of movable side end restricting members for restricting the side positions of a sheet placed on a middle plate. The rotation of the pinion gear 4 is restricted by a pinion gear lock part 1C formed on the pinion gear coaxially with each other and having fitting grooves 1a formed in a circular flange part 4a on the outer peripheral surface of which recessed/projected parts 4b are formed and a cassette body 1A so as to be fitted to a flange part 4b and on the inner wall surface of which a fitting part 1b fitted to the recessed/projected parts 4b of the flange part 4a are fitted is formed.
