PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of shortening surely a start determination time. SOLUTION: This gas sensor 100 is equipped with a detection element 9 to which a voltage is applied, a temperature sensor 10 for detecting an atmospheric temperature around the detection element 9, a concentration determination part 21 for determining a gas concentration based on an output from the detection element 9, and a voltage control part 22 for heightening a voltage to be applied to the detection element from start of driving for a fixed time further than the case above a prescribed temperature when the atmospheric temperature around the detection element 9 during the energization of the detection element 9 is lower than the prescribed temperature.
