PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for insect pest control, which is highly effective in controlling insect pests, particularly dipterous insects. SOLUTION: The composition for insect pest control comprises [a] a 3-phenoxy benzyl ester compound of formula (I) [wherein X is a hydrogen atom or a cyano group; Z is a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; and R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a 1C-3C alkyl group optionally substituted with halogen atom or a halogen atom] and [b] (2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-methylphenyl)methyl=2,2-dimethyl-3-(1-propenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate, provided that the mass ratio of [a]:[b] is within the range of 50:1 to 1:50.
