PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information for facilitating movement of vessels in specific navigation environments.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of facilitating movement of a vessel in a specific navigation environment. Characteristics of the vessel are evaluated relative to conditions in the environment to determine a navigation procedure. The procedure is described on a navigational chart that includes information from information sources of navigation experience, e.g., independent organizations, hydrographic offices, port organizations, communication organizations, shipmasters, operators and pilots. The vessel is geographically referenced by points in the environment indicative of successive positioning of the vessel in accordance with the procedure. Using such procedures can streamline the coordination among shipmasters, operators and ports and can shorten time needed to plan and perform navigation in complex environments. |
