摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application method for a retention material and an application apparatus for a retention material which enable a countermeasure to be decided accurately and rapidly even when a retention material develops in a molten steel or casting piece in an iron mill.SOLUTION: An application method for a retention material of this invention, executed in an iron mill, has a steel type decision step for deciding a steel type corresponding to machine test characteristics of a target cast piece; a component decision step for deciding an upper limit value and a lower limit value of a component which realizes machine test characteristics; a component value holding step for holding the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the component for each of the machine test characteristics; a component analysis step for analyzing an actual value of the component of the molten steel or cast piece; and a continuation decision step for deciding to send the molten steel or cast piece to a next step in the case where the actual value of the component of the molten steel or cast piece is within a range of the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the component even when the actual value of the component of the molten steel or cast piece falls out of the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the component in the steel type upon the comparison of the actual value of the component of the molten steel or cast piece with the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the component.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
