摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconia sintered compact having excellent hydrothermal stability and higher mechanical strength, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A surface layer part 14 in which the ratio of cubic crystal is increased is formed in a thickness dimension of 5-30 (μm) by increasing the amount of a stabilizer, and thereby, a zirconia sintered compact 10 has such a structure that the surface of partially stabilized zirconia is covered with a layer having an enhanced stabilization degree than the partially stabilized zirconia. Accordingly, the hydrothermal stability of the whole zirconia sintered compact 10 is enhanced due to the hydrothermal stability of the surface layer part 14. The YOcontent in the surface layer part 14 is enhanced, the ratio of the cubic crystal is increased, and at the same time, the crystal grain diameter is reduced by subjecting partially stabilized zirconia to a heat treatment under such a condition that the partially stabilized zirconia is buried in a common material (YOpowder). As a result, the zirconia sintered compact 10 having high hydrothermal stability and high mechanical strength can be obtained by a simple production process.
