The connector(31) comprises a pin(32) with a holding part(33) anchored in the structural component(30). The pin projects out of the structural component and can be formed into rivet-like positive or non-positive connection joining a second component(35) to the structural component. The holding part(33) comprises a foot connected to the narrower pin(32) which forms a bolt or spigot projecting out of the structural component(30). Reinforcing fibers(36) in the pin extend into the holding part and at the transition between pin and holding part are bent over to run radially outwards. In a design variation the connector has an integral spacer on the pin comprising a broadened area which is stepped down to the pin diameter. An independent claim is included for a) a fiber reinforced plastic connector(31) used in the structural component with a holding part for anchoring in the structural component and an adjoining pin section; b) a process for manufacturing a structural component with a connector in which the connector holding part is embedded in the structural component during manufacture of the latter; c) a connection between a structural plastic component and a second component(35) comprising a pin extending from the first component through the second component and a rivet-like head formed at the rear side of the second component; d) a method for producing a rivet-type connection between two components in which the connector pin(32) is inserted through an opening in the second component and a punch, aided by heat, used to form a head on the free end of the pin.
