摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device capable of optimizing the fuel economy performance of an internal combustion engine provided with a variable valve timing mechanism and an air flow control valve disposed in an intake passage, and further suppressing a difference in torque levels of the internal combustion engine in a control process. SOLUTION: This control device is an ECU 1A for an internal combustion engine 50 provided with an InVVt 61 (Variable Valve Timing on an intake side), an ExVVT 62 (Variable Valve Timing on an exhaust side), and an air flow control valve 70 disposed in an intake port 52a, and is provided with a VVT control means which controls the InVVT 61 and ExVVT 62 for improving the fuel economy performance of the internal combustion engine 50 according to the change in state of the air flow control valve 70. The VVT control means controls the InVVT 61 and ExVVT 62 so that when the air flow control valve 70 is closed, the degree of delay in the valve timing of an exhaust valve 55 becomes higher than the degree of advance in the valve timing of an intake valve 54, and when the air flow control valve 70 is opened, the degree of advance in the valve timing of the intake valve 54 becomes higher than the degree of delay in the valve timing of the exhaust valve 55.
