PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the shortening of a service life by deterioration or failure of a motor caused by a valve spring reaction force, in a variable valve gear of an engine. SOLUTION: A motor 55 is disposed to a cylinder head 41 so that its motor rotational shaft 56 is perpendicular to a control shaft. A worm wheel constituting a part of a worm mechanism is disposed to the control shaft. A worm 16 meshed with the worm wheel and constituting a part of the worm mechanism is disposed to a motor rotational shaft 56. A thrust receiving member 58 receiving a thrust load in a motor rotational shaft direction which acts on the motor rotational shaft 56 from the control shaft through the worm mechanism, is provided.
