A banknote processing device (10) and banknote conveying control method, the banknote conveying control method comprising: driving first banknote to enter a conveying passage (30) of the banknote processing device (10); driving the first banknote to move along the conveying passage (30); detecting a conveying state of the first banknote; and adjusting a spacing distance between a second banknote and the first banknote according to a conveying state of the first banknote. The method prevents the banknote from congesting the conveying passage (30), thus improving banknote recognition rate.
