PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a generic method for identification of gases and a corresponding device, which has a simple structure and allows immediate and simultaneous detection of compounds to be tested, and which uses identification of material-specific mobility and a change in the mobility as a function of an electric field strength.SOLUTION: An aim is achieved in that each ionized molecule has a drift velocity which is partially increased or decreased due to a synthetic electric field, the synthetic electric field being a DC field on which an asymmetric AC field is superimposed. Methods and associated devices regarding detection and identification of gases are used to identify and detect chemical compounds, for example, explosive and/or substances or compounds harmful to heath, which must be detected in very small concentrations. |
