PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the deformation of a cylinder bore caused by the tightening of cylinder head bolts in a cylinder block having a cylinder liner cast therein. SOLUTION: The cylinder bore 2 is formed by casting the cast iron cylinder liner 5 in an aluminum alloy cylinder head body 3. A rectangular cutout 10 is formed at a section corresponding to a cylinder head bolt hole 9 at the lower end of the cylinder liner 5 and an aluminum alloy is cast into the cutout 10. The cylinder head is connected to the deck surface 7 of the cylinder block 1, and the cylinder block 1 and the cylinder head are joined by screwing the cylinder head bolt into a cylinder head bolt hole 9 and tightening the same. At that time, although the periphery of the cylinder head bolt hole 9 of the cylinder block 1 is strongly compressed by the tension of the cylinder head bolt, a deformation mode of the cylinder bore 2 is improved and the deformation of the cylinder bore 2 is inhibited by the cutoff 10.
