PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting device compact in size with simple structure and capable of moving a work object vertically by a constant force without requiring a counterweight even at a place with a large height difference. SOLUTION: The lifting device has a fixed base 11 and a movable base 21 moved upward or downward by springs (41, 43) and a support member 30 relative to the fixed base 11. The support member 30 is formed in an X shape with its center pin-connected, with one-side ends pin-connected 15 and roller-connected 17 to the fixed base 11 and with other ends pin-connected 25 and roller-connected 27 to the movable base 21 so as to be mirror-symmetric with the arrangement of the pin connection 15 and roller connection 17. The springs are formed of the vertical spring 41 energizing the movable base 21 upward, and the horizontal spring 43 with one end locked to a roller connection part 17 of the support member 30 and with the other end locked to the fixed base 11.
