Intended is to control a die cushion device for a press machine on the basis of the results of calculations which were made by calculating at least one of the moving stroke and the moving velocity of a slide on the basis of the rotation stroke of a rotary member and approximate formulas (M1, M2, M3 and M4). Thus, the die cushion device for the press machine can suppress the cost, as might otherwise be invited by providing a detector newly, and can downsize the software for controlling the die cushion device, so that the die cushion can be easily and usefully controlled in its operation.
