<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord equipped with a good rubber-penetrating property and a high stiffness jointly, and without yielding a separation around the cord on applying it for a rubber article, and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This steel cord is constituted by a core 1 obtained by arranging a multiple number of non-twisted core wires in a row in longitudinal direction and one layer of sheath 2 obtained by twisting a multiple number of sheath wires around the core, and has a flat outline shape of the cord at a cross section crossing with a cord axis at right angle. To the core, a screw-forming having a smaller swinging width than that of the sheath wires is applied, and also the phase of the screw of the core wires approximately agrees with the average phase of the screw of the sheath wires. The method for producing the steel cord is provided by forming each of the core and sheath wires with a pre-former, and then twisting the sheath wires around the core wires. The forming is performed so that the way of engaging the sheath wires to the pins of the pre-former and the way of engaging the core wires to the pins of the pre-former become reverse direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
