<p>Provided is a vibration actuator comprising an elastic element, an electromechanical conversion unit for bringing the elastic element into swinging vibrations, and a rotary element for contacting the elastic element at the loops of the swinging vibrations so that it receives the driving force and rotates. The rotary element contacts the elastic element at a predetermined position in the extension direction of the axis of the rotations. In this vibration actuator, the elastic element has an elastic element contacting portion arranged in the regions containing the loops of the swinging vibrations in the elastic element, and the rotary element has a rotary element contacting portion contacting the elastic element contacting portion in the rotary element thereby to receive the driving force. One of the elastic element contacting portion and the rotary element contacting portion may contain the contact face which contacts the other of the contact portions while being inclined with respect to the axis of the rotations.</p>
