<p>A corrosion sensor for sensing the effect of pitting corrosion to a structure is disclosed. The sensor comprises a stacked arrangement of two metallic layers, and a porous dielectric layer interposed between the metallic layers. In use of the sensor, a first metallic layer of the two metallic layers is exposed to corrosive media such that, on formation of a corrosion pit in the first metallic layer, electrolyte ingress into the porous layer will change the conductivity between the two metallic layers.
