PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation catalyst including no Cr in a method for manufacturing alcohol by hydrogenation of aldehyde with contacting a raw material mixture containing at least one kind of aldehyde and at least one kind of coexistence component with a heterogeneous catalyst in a presence of hydrogen to obtain a production mixture containing at least one kind of alcohol and at least one kind of by-product corresponding to hydrogenated aldehyde.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of manufacturing alcohol by hydrogenation of aldehyde with using a catalyst with carrying only Cu and Ni as hydrogenation active components on a carrying material. There is provided a hydrogenation catalyst consisting of the carrying material of 85 to 95 wt.%, Cu of 5.3 to 8.4 wt.%, Ni of 2.2 to 3.9 wt.%, Cr of less than 50 wt.ppm and others of 1 wt.%.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
