This optimization device (7) for a component mounting line (1) is provided with the following: a cycle time calculation unit (831) that calculates respective cycle times (tc) required for component mounting apparatuses (21-2A) to attach, to one substrate (K), components of component types allocated to the mounting apparatuses by optimization processing; an excluded-apparatus setting unit (832) that performs setting so that a specific portion of component mounting apparatuses (2A) are excluded from subsequent calculation processing; a balance efficiency calculation unit (833) that calculates line balance efficiency (LBE) which indicates the degree to which the cycle times of component mounting apparatuses (21-29) which were not excluded have been equalized; and a balance efficiency display unit (834) that displays the line balance efficiency. Due to this configuration, it becomes possible to fully utilize the inherent device-performance of a component mounting line by suitably evaluating the results of optimization processing carried out prior to beginning substrate production.
