PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment dispersion using carbon black, which provides a water-based ink for ink-jet recording having excellent discharge stability.SOLUTION: Provided is an aqueous pigment dispersion comprising: pigment; a water-soluble organic solvent Q; a block copolymer P, a solution of which obtained by dissolving the same in the water-soluble organic solvent Q shows an average viscosity in a range of 0.1 to 4 Pa s when measured by a rotational rheometer (25°C) at shear rates of 1 (1/s), 2 (1/s), 4 (1/s), 6 (1/s), 8 (1/s), and 10 (1/s); and water.
