PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery cooling device of an electric vehicle capable of performing the cooling at an appropriate timing, preventing degradation and damage of a battery caused by overheating, keeping cooling ability to the required minimum, suppressing electricity consumption, and achieving excellent fuel efficiency.SOLUTION: An operation pattern of a motor is presumed on the basis of road surface gradient information of a scheduled travel route, a change pattern of the state of charge (SOC) of the battery is presumed, and a change pattern of a battery temperature Tbtt when a cooling fan is operated at minimum cooling ability is presumed. When the battery temperature Tbtt is presumed to exceed an upper limit temperature Tlmt, a temperature excess &Dgr;Texceed with respect to the upper limit temperature Tlmt is calculated, and battery temperature retention periods Ta dotted on the scheduled travel route are distinguished. A cooling schedule is fixed so that the cooling fan is operated at the respective temperature retention periods Ta in order, and the cooling fan is operated at optimum ability according to the schedule until the battery temperature Tbtt falls by a value equal to the temperature excess &Dgr;Texceed. |
