PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of building a communication system having high convenience. SOLUTION: An MFP stores incoming messages to be transmitted other telephone sets as automatic answering machine data having a data format corresponding to an audio CODEC incorporated into the MFP into a storage unit. The storage unit also stores motion picture data corresponding to DLNA (R), still picture data and audio data. When the DLNA (R) apparatus requests data transmission, if the requested data are answering machine data (YES in S410), the data format of the automatic answering machine data is converted from a format complying to the incorporated audio CODEC to a format complying to the DLNA (R), and the converted data are transmitted to the DLNA (R) apparatus (S415).
