<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously perform the fastening of an angle adjustment part and the fixing of a handrail coping and enable strong fixing. <P>SOLUTION: The bracket for a handrail is provided with upper brackets 13a, 13b comprising a receiving part 11 for holding the side face of the handrail coping 5 and a lock part 12 extending at the lower part of the receiving part, a lower bracket 15 which is erected on a support 2 and has a lock receiving part 14 for making contact with and locking the inner face of the lock part of the upper brackets at an upper end, and a fixing bolt 30 for fastening the lock part and the lock receiving part and a cap nut 31 screwed to the fixing bolt. The lock part of the upper brackets has a mounting hole 16 passing through the fixing bolt and a lock projected shaft 17 projecting on a coaxial line with the mounting hole, and has a narrow tapered face 18 gradually narrowed in a projecting direction at least at the lower face of the lock projected shaft.
