Method for displacing the oxygen content in flexible packages (2), open at the top, held suspended on a horizontal packaging line which comprises the operation of directing a current of fluid (3), preferably a gas, by means of an injection nozzle (4) towards the interior (5) of a package (2) by way of the opening (6) thereof in a sufficient quantity to replace the oxygen originally contained therein, the method comprising the actions of: a) moving the injection nozzle (4) together with the package (2) while the advance of the packaging line takes place so that the fluid (3) continues entering into the package (4) while it is moving; and b) bringing together the walls (2a, 2b) of the package (4), causing the closing of the opening (6) thereof while the current of fluid (3) continues to be directed towards the interior (5) of the package (2). In one variant, the action b) is initiated with the package (2) moving.
