Disclosed are a method and device for measuring the size of an object. The method for measuring the size of an object comprises: acquiring a horizontal distance from a photographing terminal to a photographed object or a vertical distance from the photographing terminal to a horizontal plane; acquiring an imaging angle of a camera when the photographing terminal photographs the photographed object; calculating a deflection angle of the camera in a vertical direction when the photographing terminal photographs the photographed object; according to the horizontal distance or the vertical distance, and a triangle relationship among the imaging angle of the camera, the deflection angle and an imaging distance of the photographed object on a display screen of the photographing terminal, obtaining the imaging distance through calculation; and according to the imaging distance, obtaining an actual size of the photographed object through conversion. The present disclosure can accurately measure the size of an object without needing to use a professional measurement tool.
