PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor that is available regardless of polarity.SOLUTION: Two power collection portions with which an electrolyte is in contact are formed of the same material, such that the polarity is eliminated. Since the electric double layer capacitor has no polarity (both sides are available as a positive electrode side and a negative electrode side), a can that is shaped correspondingly to a negative electrode can (case) of a battery is called an inner can, and a can that is shaped correspondingly to a positive electrode can of the battery is called an outer can. In the electric double layer capacitor, surfaces of the inner can and the outer can with which the encapsulated electrolyte are in contact are formed of the same material. The inner can and the outer can are formed of a sufficiently hard metal, and a protective film formed of the same material improved in voltage resistance may also be formed on the surfaces of the inner can and the outer can in contact with the electrolyte.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
