Abstract An image forming apparatus (U) includes: a developer container (V) including a containing portion (1) which contains developer and is rotated when a driving force is transmitted to the containing portion (1) from an image forming apparatus body (U1), a discharge portion (6) that rotatably supports the containing portion (1) and has a discharge port (18) through which the developer is discharged, and a restricting member (32) provided at the discharge portion (6) and movable between a restricting position where the restricting member (32) restricts rotation of the containing portion (1) and a releasing position where the restricting member (32) releases the restriction of rotation of the containing portion (1), the developer container (V) being removably attached to the image forming apparatus body (Ul); and a releasing member (46) that is supported on the image forming apparatus body (Ul) and moves the restricting member (32) to the releasing position when the developer container (V) is attached to the image forming apparatus body (Ul).
