摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicon steel wire excellent in workability in wire drawing and iron core working, small in deterioration in core loss caused by working distortion and good in core loss by controlling the contents of C, S, O and N as trace components in steel and prescribing the average crystal grain size in accordance with the diameter of the steel wire. SOLUTION: The contents of C, S, O and N in steel of the silicon steel wire are controlled to, by weight, C+S+O+N<0.015%, preferably, <=0.010% C, <=0.010% S, <=0.0050% O and about <=0.0050% N, furthermore, the crystal grain size and the steel wire diameter are allowed to satisfy the inequality: 150/(t+0.4)>d>40/(t+0.8)(d: the average crystal grain size, &mu;m, t: the steel wire diameter, mm, where t=0.01 to 1.0). As the steel compsn., the one contg. C+S+O+N<0.015% and moreover contg. one or more kinds among 0.1 to 8.0% Si, <=2.0% Mn, 0.1 to 15.0% Cr, <=2.0% Al, <=2.0% Cu, <=2.0% Ni and 0.2% P, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is preferable.
