PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technical means with which light propagation is accurately controlled in a more diverse manner, in an optical response type photonic crystal. SOLUTION: The light propagation is controlled with light and an electric field, in the optical response type photonic crystal which switches propagation of light with a specified wavelength with light, and which contains a liquid crystal.
