PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly detect that an electric power steering control device having steering wheel specifications different from vehicle side steering wheel specifications is installed in a vehicle. SOLUTION: The electric power steering ECU 10 carries out steering assist by controlling an electric motor M on the basis of steering torque T and vehicular speed V. The ECU 10 is provided with a self-diagnostic processing portion 23. The self-diagnostic processing portion 23 obtains the vehicle side steering wheel specification information from a test device 40, and collates that with ECU side steering wheel information stored in a steering wheel specification information memory portion 25. When the steering wheel specification information does not match, abnormal information is written in a diagnostic information memory portion 24, and a warning issuing portion 26 turns on a warning lamp 35.
