PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold release agent for a rubber excellent in mold releasability, and a rubber molding method. SOLUTION: The mold release agent for the rubber is prepared by dissolving 0.01-2.00 wt.% of an anionic surfactant and 5-70 wt.% of a water soluble alcohol in water. In the rubber molding method, the mold release agent, which is prepared by dissolving 0.01-2.00 wt.% of the anionic surfactant and 5-70 wt.% of the water soluble alcohol in water, is used when a peroxide vulcanizing type rubber or an addition type silicone rubber is molded using a mold.
