<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust system of an engine capable of preventing wind corrosion of a holding material end part of a catalyst carrier with simple structure without arranging a separate member in the exhaust system of the engine adopting the so-called direct catalyst system. <P>SOLUTION: The downstream side tip of a connecting cone 51 is integrally formed in the connecting cone 51 as "a gas block piece part" 52 by further extending to the catalyst carrier 42 side over the whole periphery. That is, a flow of exhaust gas G to the holding mat 47 side is dammed up by arranging an extension part (the gas block piece part 52) in the connecting cone 51 to extend larger to the downstream side than a part fitted to and inserted into a diametrically contracted step part 41a of a converter case 41. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
