<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit capable of easily supplying alcohol to a reducing catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: This power unit has an internal combustion engine 1 and an exhaust emission control means 3 having the reducing catalyst 4, and has a separating means 11 for separating a mixture into an alcohol-water mixed liquid and liquid hydrocarbon by mixing water in mixed fuel of the liquid hydrocarbon, and the alcohol and an alcohol supply means 17 for supplying the alcohol-water mixed liquid to the exhaust emission control means 3. The exhaust emission control means 3 has a first alcohol supply means 18a for supplying the alcohol-water mixed liquid to the reducing catalyst 4, an oxidizing catalyst 5a, and a second alcohol supply means 18b for supplying the alcohol-water mixed liquid to the oxidizing catalyst 5a, when the temperature of the reducing catalyst 4 detected by a temperature detecting means 8 is less than the reducing temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
