<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous honeycomb structure having a high rate of exhaust gas purification and capable of easily regenerating DPF when the structure is disposed upstream of the DPF in a state where a catalyst is carried thereby and used, and an apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas using the porous honeycomb structure. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas using the porous honeycomb structure, HC and CO contained in a diesel engine 10 are oxidized by an oxidation catalyst and NOx is temporally occluded into an NOx occluding catalyst on a catalyst carrier 30, and since a porous honeycomb structure including silicon carbide as a main component is employed as a honeycomb structure 32, a regeneration rate of DPF 40 disposed downstream thereof is higher as compared with a honeycomb structure including cordierite or the like as a main component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
