PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for providing a water-absorbing resin excellent in absorption magnification under pressure, absorption rate, gel strength, liquid-permeating property, etc., in a high efficiency and at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for surface-treating the water-absorbing resin comprises (a) a process of obtaining a water-absorbing resin composition by mixing a water-absorbing resin, a radically polymerizable compound and an organic solvent, and (b) a process of irradiating an active energy beam to the obtained water-absorbing resin composition.
