A method of correcting for error in an estimate of a target's position derived from the outputs of a radar antenna, where the error is caused by the received radiation being plane polarized. For an antenna having elevation elements (1), (3) and azimuth elements (2), (4), the outputs are combined 11 to form a discriminator signal which varies with polarization angle d :- D( d ) = ( S 13 - S 24) - g 13 W 13 for a target furthest from element 1. The inverse function d (D) 12 is two-valued in d at any given value of D and the invention includes methods for resolving the ambiguity in d 14. Correction for scale factor error and cross-aberration is applied 13 to the target position estimate according to predetermined correction values dependent on d . |
