PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction in image quality due to disclination in a liquid crystal display wherein alignment is made having a pretilt angle. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is constituted so that a liquid crystal is enclosed between a pair of substrates and liquid crystal molecules are moved by applying voltage to the liquid crystal by using electrodes formed on the substrates, so as to control a polarization state of light, wherein the liquid crystal is divided for every pixel and the pixel has a polygonal shape. When no voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are disposed so as to have a prescribed angle from a direction vertical to the surface of the pixel, and an angle formed by an inclination direction of the liquid crystal molecules and a boundary line between the pixels is <45°.
