PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber holder that facilitates visual recognition of the abutting condition among optical fibers, when the optical fibers are butt-connected to each other, using an optical fiber splicing tool in an optical fiber splicer. SOLUTION: In the holder body 2, clamp sections 9, 20 are provided for clamping an optical fiber 32 in front and on rear end of a fiber groove 7. In the lid body 3, an elastic holding section 28 is provided which pressurizes the optical fiber 32 housed in the rear end of the fiber groove 7, to hold the optical fiber between the elastic holding section and the holder body 2. In a part, corresponding to the clamp section 9 of the lid body 3, there is installed a clamp-release projected part 27 for releasing the clamping of the clamp section 9. Furthermore, in a position above the fiber groove 7 in the closed state of the lid body 3, there is provided an orifice 80 through which the optical fiber 32 can be passed. A deflected part of the optical fiber 32, which is formed so as to be raised from the fiber groove 7 between the front and rear clamp sections 9, 20, is housed in the orifice 80.
