The present invention is provided with a specimen-dispensing mechanism 12 that is provided with a specimen nozzle 12a for dispensing a specimen from within a specimen container 15 into a reaction container 2 by suctioning and ejecting a specimen to be analyzed. The specimen-dispensing mechanism 12 is controlled so as to carry out: a specimen suctioning process for inserting the specimen nozzle 12a into the specimen container 15 and suctioning a specimen from within the specimen container 15; a liquid suctioning process for suctioning a liquid using the specimen nozzle 12a after the specimen suctioning process; and an ejection process for ejecting the liquid and part of the specimen, in the stated order, from the specimen nozzle 12a into the empty reaction container 2. This makes it possible to provide an autoanalyzer and method with which it is possible to precisely dispense a very small amount of a specimen, irrespective of the external contour of the specimen nozzle and the viscosity of the specimen. |
