A thermally sensitive recording medium including on a support a thermally sensitive color development layer containing: a compound represented by the following general formula (1) as an organic color developing agent; and an oxalate compound represented by the following general formula (2) as a sensitizer. (In the formula (1): M represents CO or NRCO; when M is CO, m₁ is 1; and when m₁ is 0 and M is NRCO, B is not 0.)
