A wireless communication terminal having message reception notify selecting and message storage environment selecting functions and a method thereof are provided to select a method for notifying a user of message reception so that a user can selectively know the message reception according to the user's own environment. Message reception notify setup information is received(210). A message reception notify method is set according to the received message reception notify setup information(220). A message is received(230). The reception of the message is notified according to the set message reception notify selecting method(240). When the reception of the message is notified, the reception of the message is notified according to message reception notify time, message reception notify frequency, and a message reception notify method.
