PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that positional accuracy of one's own vehicle is lowered due to the low reliability of a calculated pitch tilt angle, when the vehicle is in a circling travel. SOLUTION: A navigation apparatus is provided with: a direction detecting means for detecting a direction of the vehicle; an acceleration detecting means for detecting an acceleration in an anteroposterior direction of the vehicle; a travel distance detecting means for detecting a travel distance of the vehicle; a velocity calculating means for calculating a velocity of the vehicle, based on an output of the travel distance detecting means; an acceleration calculating means for calculating an acceleration of the vehicle, based on an output of the velocity calculating means; a pitch tilt angle calculating means for calculating a pitch tilt angle, based on an output of the acceleration detecting means and the acceleration of the vehicle output by the acceleration calculating means; a centripetal acceleration calculating means for calculating a centripetal acceleration of the vehicle, based on an output of the direction detecting means and a vehicle velocity calculated by the velocity calculating means; and a pitch tilt angle reliability determining means for determining the reliability of a pitch tilt angle of the vehicle calculated by the pitch tilt angle calculating means, based on an output of the centripetal acceleration calculating means.
