This technology is related to a transmission device, a transmission method, a reception device, a reception method, a transmission system, and a program which enable visible image data to be suitably transmitted even in cases when the angles of view, the bit format, and the pixel format dynamically change. When the format prescribed by DisplayPort (trademark) is used to transmit visible image data, the information of Hwidth15:8, Hwidth7:0, Vheight15:8, Vheight7:0, MISC0_7:0, and MISC1_7:0 in main stream attributes (MSA) included in the format, said information having the angles of view, the bit format, and the pixel format stored therein, is used to obtain error-correcting code, and the error-correcting code is recorded in blank regions. During reception, parity is used to correct errors in the information in which the plurality of angles of view, the bit format, and the pixel format are stored. This technology is applicable to display ports. |
