A direct drive motor for a washing machine and method of manufacturing the same are disclosed, by which a direct drive motor convenient for use can be provided in a manner of reducing a cogging torque, noise and vibration considerably using a permanent magnet having sine waveform magnetization. The present invention includes a stator having a winding part having a coil wound thereon, a rotor frame including a sidewall part and a rear wall part, the rotor frame connected to a washing shaft to directly drive a drum, and a permanent magnet provided to an inner surface of the sidewall part of the rotor frame, the permanent magnet formed of a resin to have a plurality of magnetic poles alternate in a circumferential direction in a sine wave pattern substantially.
