PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closing-shock absorber for a sliding door by which the situation that the sliding door is kept open immediately before its closed position is eliminated, and the sliding door moves surely and can be always closed quietly. SOLUTION: A cam plate 3 is structured in a casing 1 fitted to a sliding door side or a head jamb side in a manner that the cam plate 3 tilts or moves linearly and horizontally being guided by a guide groove 2. A spring damper mechanism 4 always pulling the cam plate to the side of an end part of the horizontal groove is provided on a lower side of the cam plate. A trigger device 5 to be in contact with a first claw 3-1 of the cam plate is mounted on the sliding door side or the head jamb side. In the closing-shock absorber for the sliding door which is thus structured, a trigger bolt 5-1 of the trigger device is structured to be movable up and down by the intermediary of a spring 5-2. Slope faces are formed on a second claw 3-2 of the cam plate or on the trigger bolt 5-1, or on both of them so that the trigger bolt may retreat against the spring force when the second claw 3-2 of the cam plate comes into contact with the trigger bolt 5-1.
