PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a high-pressure discharge lamp, which can easily prevent impurities from being mixed thereinto in a manufacturing process. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the high-pressure discharge lamp, a light-emitting tube part 110 and a pair of side tube parts 120, 121 having closed end parts are provided, a first electrode assembly 111 is disposed in either one of the side tube parts, a glass bulb 100 is prepared in which the inside of one side tube part 120 having the first electrode assembly 111 is under reduced pressure, and in which a place, where a metal foil 160 of the first electrode assembly 111 is located, is reduced in diameter and then closed. A small hole 510 is installed at the other side tube part 121, the side tube part 121 is cut on a side closer to the light-emitting tube part 110 than the place where the small hole 510 of the side tube part 121 is installed, a second electrode assembly 112 is inserted from an opening of the side tube part 121 installed in a cutting process to put the interior of the glass bulb 100 into a reduced pressure state, and the opening of the side tube part 121 is closed.
