A method for transmitting messages comprising respective data words (DW) having a respective succession of individual data in successive data positions from a subscriber (10) to further subscribers (12, 13) simultaneously and at the same frequency by means of a transmission medium (11) to form different message channels (15, 16) involves an individual stock of codewords with a number of individual codewords from a matching stock of codewords being provided in each subscriber (10, 12, 13). Each message is assigned, in a respective message-channel-individual encoder (17, 18) of the one subscriber (10), a message-channel-individual partial stock of the individual codewords, and a message-channel-individual symbol (S1, S2) is formed for each data word (DW) with the individual codewords of the respective message-channel-individual partial stock by means of combination and summation. The message-channel-individual symbols (S1, S2) are sent in sync. Following transmission of the message-channel-individual symbols (S1, S2) by means of message-channel-individual decoders (21, 22), the respectively permitted, message-channel-individual symbols (S1, S2) are cross-correlated with a reference to form a message-channel-individual correlation function, this reference having a pronounced extreme value when cross-correlated with each individual codeword of the respective message-channel-individual partial stock. The position and size of the extreme values are used to reconstruct a data word (DW) for the respective message. The invention also relates to an arrangement for exchanging messages simultaneously and at the same frequency. |
