The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for interpolating a blank image area, which collect images in two or more different directions through a camera attached to a vehicle by predetermined time units, convert the collected respective images into images viewed from above the vehicle, synthesize the converted images, analyze the frequency characteristics of the synthesized image, detect a to-be-interpolated area from which image information is omitted, select a candidate image to be interpolated in the to-be-interpolated area, interpolate the selected candidate image in the to-be-interpolated area, and remove the boundary surface of the synthesized image using the colors of pixels around the boundary surface of the interpolated image, thus providing an image having no blank and no sense of difference to a driver. |
